Ratko Popović was born in 1947. in Gračanica. He is a poet. He used to work in school in Gračanica where he acted as director during a certain time period. He left the position of educational worker and he started working in Library in Priština. During that period he wrote a novel "Cowards snow", which was published in 1992. One of the greatest successes in Ratko’s work, aside writing, is that he is collecting and publishing works of young authors, in which he maintains continuity for the last several years. He is one of the initiators and organizers of “Week of culture”. Here are some of his published works: “Drama’s” (1977), ”Unfinished act” (1982), novels “Cowards snow” (1992), “For whom I raise home” (1995), “Our house is far away” (1998), “I speak Kosovo” (2001), “Wonders over Goraždevac” (2003), “St. Pantheleimon curses the guards” (2004). Popović has also prepared anthologies, among which are “Strašni sud”, “Gračanička dobroglasna zvona”, “Dečanska riznica stihova”, “Slava knezu Lazaru”, etc. He won the following awards: Goldeb badges of Cultural – Educational Union of Serbia in 1978 and 1980. literature award "Serbian spiritual treasury", “Charter of Gračanica” (1998), “Charter Srboljub Mitić” (1999) for a novel “Our house is far away”. He is the winner of “Vuk’s award”, charter ”Poetici ascencion” (2001), award from Union of Poets of Serbia (2006) and literature award “Lazar Vučković” (2007).
