Ramë Manaj was born on 24.07.1954 in village Glarevo – municipality of Klina, in Kosovo.
Since January 10, 2008, he is acting as deputy Prime Minister in the Government of Kosovo. In third mandate he was elected member of the parliament. Currently he is a member of Constitutional Commission and member of Commission of the Republic of Kosovo in charge of symbols. He started his political career in 1990, in Democratic Union of Kosovo (LDK). At first he was a president of a sub-branch and member of the presidency of LDK branch in Klina, then a member of a General Board, member of Central Presidency and Secretary General. Currently he holds the position of Secretary General of Democratic Union of Kosovo. During 2006 – 2008 he was acting as senior political – advisor to the President of the Assembly of Kosovo. He acted as President of Klina Municipality from 2001-2006, and he also acted as director of administration in bauxite company in Klina from 1982 – 1990.
During his career Ram Manaj worked as journalist from 1977 – 1979 in only daily press at that time - „Rilindja.“
He is married, and a father of four.
