Dušan Janjić

Dušan Janjić is born on 28.03.1950, in Vranje, Serbia.


Scientific advisor - Center for sociological research, Insitute of civil sciences.


Graduated on Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade (1973), obtained masters degree in 1977 and doctor’s degree in 1987, at the same faculty, on the topic of theoretic determination of term “Nation”.
Specialized in sociology and reseraches on theory of nationalism, ethnic relations and protection of minorities.

Participated in more than 200 internationa scientific conferences. Author of more than 100 published publications (books, articles etc.) among which are the following: Open issue of nation, Belgrade, 1980; Diary of "nationalist", Belgrade, 1986, and second ammended and altered edition, 1988; Determination of a nation (Analysis of "constitutive elements" definition of a nation and an attempt of synthetic determination of a nation), doctor’s dysertation, Belgrade, 1987; State and nation, Zagreb, 1988; Nation – what is that?, Belgrade, 1993; Report on judiciary, sociological and political aspects of national politics and protection of minorities in Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Trento, l993; Bosnia and Herzegovina between war and peace, Institute of social sciences and Forum for ethnic relations, Belgrade, 1972 (English and Spanish edition in: Former Yugoslavia: From war to peace, Valenicia, 1993; Conflict or dialogue Serbian – Albanian relations and integration of Balcans (in Serbian, Albanian and English language), Subotica, Priština, 1994; Serbia between past and future (in Serbian and in English language), Belgrade, 1995 and 1997; Ethnic conflicts and minorities in multiethnic society, Norrkoping, 2002; Kosovo between conflict and dialogue. Ethnic cinflict and identity crisis: Case of Serbian – Albanian relations, Forum for ethnic relations, Belgrade, 2003, Scriptures from Serbia, Belgrade, 2006; Experiments on Kosovo, Belgrade, 2007; one of the authors of political analysis “Status of Kosovo and its regional implications”, Forli, Italy, 2008.


Member of many expert societies, among which are the following: Union of sociologists of Serbia; Society for political sciences of Serbia; International society for minorities and regional studies; International society for studies of European ideas (ISSEI), International network of Europe and Balcans, Bologna, Italy; Society of Nordic international studies (NISA); International Association for Conflict Managementa (IACM); Ethnic Studies Network (ESN). Founder and coordinator of Forum for Ethnic Relations; founder and first secretary general of European Movement in Serbia; member of the Council of Ethnic Accord – Project for Ethnic Relations, Princeton, USA; Helsinky society assembly. Member of UK of Serbia (1968 – 1988), founder and vice-president of a political party „Socijaldemokratija” (1997 – 1999).
Editor of many expert magazines and editions.
