Alexander Ivanko, spokesperson of UNMIK and Director of Department of Public Information Unit in UNMIK, was born on March 7, 1962, in Moscow (Russia).
Before that he worked as journalist in Moscow’s newspapers „Izvestia", he was a correspondent from Afghanistan in 1989, and from 1992 until 1994 he was a correspondent from United States. He acted as spokesperson of UN in Sarajevo from 1994 until 1998, advisor of OSCE representative, and spokesperson of UN in Lebanon in 2006. He published over thousand articles in Russian, American and European media. He finished journalism at Moscow State University.
