He was born on October 23, 1951, in village Pakaštica, municipality of Podujevo. He finished elementary and secondary school in Podujevo. He finished his studies at Faculty of Law, University of Priština, in 1974. He finished post-graduation studies at the same University, where he took his Phd. As regular professor he held lectures on Faculty of Law and Faculty of Political Sciences in Priština. During 1984 he resided in France where he took specialist studies at „Paris 2“ University, Department of History of Economic Institutions, Philosophy and Sociology of Rights. He continued his specialists studies in United States of America, at „Arizona State University“. He also took several other short-term studies on other universities. He published several scientific studies in constitutional-legal field of expertize and in history of rights. He participated in Founding Congress of Democratic Union of Kosovo (LDK), held on December 23, 1989, in Priština. During First Electoral Assembly in 1991 he was nominated as member of Executive Board, then, in 1992 he became member of Presidency of LDK, and in 1994 he was elected to be Secretary General of LDK. He was a member of Central Commission for organizing of Referendum for independent Kosovo, held in 1991. He was elected as MP in 1992 and in 1998. Also, in 1998, he was elected Secretary General of the Assembly of Kosovo and President of Commission for Constitutional Issues. After first democratic elections after the war he was elected as MP and member of Presidency of the Assembly. He was re-elected to those functions in 2004 elections. He is also a member of Commission for International Cooperation and Euro-Athlantic Integration and Judiciary, Legislation and Constitutional Framework Commission. He received the title „Doctor Honoris Causa“ from University of Tirana, Albania, on June 28, 2006. He speaks English and French language. Married, father of three. Lives and works in Priština. |







Fatmir Sejdiu was, with 2/3 majority of votes of MP’s on February 10, 2006, elected as President of Kosovo.
