Former Prime Minister of Kosovo 2006 - 2008. Agim Ceku is former commander of Kosovo Protection Core and Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Started his millitary career in JNA, and, after two years in Military Academy in Belgrade and two years in Military School in Zadar, he became professor in School for Reserve Officers. He left JNA in 1990, and one year later he joins Zbor Narodne Garde, which became Croatian Army. In the beginning on 1990 he participated in war in Croatia, and in 1993 he was wounded in Operation Medački Džep. When armed conflict started in Kosovo, he leaves Croatia and joins KLA. In May 1999 he became KLA commander. And after the arrival of NATO forces to Kosovo, he became commander of Kosovo Protection Corps. Serbian authorities accused Ceku for several acts of crime commited during conflict in Kosovo and international waranty was issued for him, based on which he was arrested two times, in Ljubljana and in Budapest. |
